Most
of my support comes in the form of social support: emotional, esteem and
informational and tangible.
Emotional Support, Esteem Support and
Tangible
My
emotional support, esteem support and tangible support tends to come from the
same sources. The sources that offer me the greatest support are family and
friends. There are days when I am so overwhelmed with school, ministry and
dealing with my health issues. I am able to call or drive to my parents,
siblings, other family or friends for words of encouragements. There are times
when I just need someone to listen to me and I have that from those that love
me. Days when I feel that I am unable to do anything right when it comes to assignments
or projects, my love ones are there to remind me of my pass successes. They are
constantly telling me that I can do it. There are occasions when I am in so much pain
that I cannot perform my normal duties. My parents, my sister and nephews
always come to my rescue. They allow me to take my medicine and provide meals
or whatever I need for me. There have been days when my parents allowed me to
stay at their home a few days while I try to recover.
Informational support
There are times when I need simple advice for
ministry and even school. I always have someone to count on. I have friends that
are in the field of early childhood and I can always go to the veterans for
helpful advice. There are time when I need assistance with an assignment, such
as interviews and observations. I was able to call up one of my former
classmate for assistance and advice. I am sure that I will continue to ask for
assistance when needed. Many times I have questions or professional concerns. I
can always turn to my sorority sisters. The supplicated women of Sigma Gamma
Rho are so diverse; it does not matter what type of information that I need, I
can always go to one of the women. If the one I talk to do not have the
information that I need will direct me to the person/ people that I need.
I do not know how I would survive without any of the
support that I have in my life. I need my emotional, esteem and tangible
support in my everyday life. If my family and friends were not here I am sure
that I would not be where I am now. The emotional support is just as important
as the tangible support in my life. If I did not have my sorority sisters on my
life, my professional life would not be where it is today. Support is a must in
my life. I am unable to imagine where I would be without the people that I have
in my life. I am grateful to everyone in my life.
