Examining Codes of Ethics

Examining Codes of Ethics

DEC “We shall strive for the highest level of personal and professional competence by seeking and using new evidence based information to improve our practices while also responding openly to the suggestions of others.”

Significance to my professional life

I want to continue to grow as a professional while ensuring every available resource is used for the benefit of children and their families.

NAEYC I-1.5—To create and maintain safe and healthy settings that foster children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development and that respect their dignity
and their contributions
Significance to my professional life

My opinion is that all things help to shape a child. Once all of these things are provided, then the effects on children’s development are positive.

NAEYC I-2.2—To develop relationships of mutual trust and create partnerships with the families we serve.

Significance to my professional life

It is important to have the trust of the families. A good rapport with the families makes it easier to provide the best services and information needed for the children.

Words of Inspiration and Motivation

T. Berry Brazelton, MD  had a life time of achievements and contributions to Early Childhood field as well as the medical field, but that was not enough for him. He felt he had more to add; age was not going to slow him down when it comes to helping children. One of my favorite quotes by Brazelton because it shows his passion for children. His response to receiving an honor:
“I’m 94 years old, but I’m not done. There’s more to do.”

"If at the height of this emotion, I suddenly left off reproaching him and substituted caresses and a few words of affection and encouragement, I obtained an increase of emotion which doubled the expected effect." Always remember that natural caring can result in a bonding way more powerful than threat.  –Jean-Marc-Gaspad Itard

My passion comes from wanting to make a difference… I am not here to save the world, but I am here to just make a difference... - Raymond Hernandez MS Ed
